Faculty and Credentials

Tender Years dedicated to excellence in the field of early childhood education. All lead teachers have professional preparation in education or a related field. Each staff member at Tender Years must be a self-motivated learner and strive to improve their skills and knowledge in order to benefit their students and classroom.

All of Tender Years Staff must:

  • Have a college degree or must have or be working on a CDA (child development associate certificate) in Early Childhood Education
  • Be registered with the Maine Roads to Quality Registry (for professional advancement)
  • Attend at least 40 hours of continuing education each year (10 above the DHHS requirements)
  • Have a passion for working with children

 

Ongoing support and mentoring includes (although is not limited to):

  • CPR and First Aid
  • Conflict Resolution skills
  • Managing Challenging Behaviors in the Classroom
  • Understanding Learning Styles
  • Communicating with Parents and Children
  • How to Help Children with Separation Anxiety
  • Preparation of Classroom Materials
