A Typical Day

We operate classrooms that are responsive to the needs of our students. Although each day is unique in its energy and dynamics, this schedule gives you a sense of what out typical day’s routine looks like.

7:30 - 8:30 Extended Morning Hours
Free play
8:30 - 9:15 Free Play
Children have the freedom to explore the classroom, choose activities and build social skills

9:15 - 9:35

Morning Meeting
Thematic songs, 'Leader of the Day', Early literacy & math, movement, music, sign language, foreign language, etc.
9:35 - 9:55

A Nutritious Snack

Children bring snacks from home. Socialization skills and table manners practice.

9:55 - 10:05

A Theme Related Story

Read aloud story related to the monthly theme.

10:05 - 11:15

Work Time
Teachers work with small groups of children on developmental skills while other children are self-directed as they explore the prepared learning environment and choose activities of personal interest in learning centers

11:15 – 12:00

Outdoor Free Play
Our well-equipped fenced area includes: swings, climbing gym with slides, large play fort, bike path, garden, outdoor chimes, outdoor blocks and sorting table and sand box.

12:00 - 12:15

Morning Only Pick Up time
Bathroom break and Hand washing

12:15 - 12:45 Lunch Time
Children bring lunch from home. An opportunity is provided for teeth brushing.
12:45 - 1:15 Story Time
Children enjoy a wide variety of teacher-read children's stories.
1:15 - 2:15+

Rest time

All children are encouraged to practice caring for their bodies by relaxing and recharging. Books or other quiet activities are offered to those who do not sleep half way through the rest period.

2:15 - 3:00 Enrichment Afternoon
Small group activity time with creative seasonal projects or children's games in learning centers.

Pick up Time

3:00 - 5:30

Extended Afternoon Hours
Children attending for extended day services eat a nutritious snack sent from home. Socialization skills and table manners are practiced.

 

Outdoor Free Play
Our well-equipped fenced area includes: swings, climbing gym with slides, large play fort, bike path, garden, outdoor chimes, outdoor blocks and sorting table and sand box, hopscotch, tic-tac-toe, nature art and more at our nature inspired learning centers.

 

If we are forced to stay indoors, children will participate in free play, simple art, creative movement, board games, stories, dramatic play and more…
